ERMA FIRST BWTS awarded during Greek Shipping Awards
ERMA FIRST the innovative Piraeus Based Maker of a world Class Ballast Water Treatment system has been awarded the Technical Achievement Award by a prestigious panel of Judges (including John Coustas of Danaos/Helmepa, Haralambos Fafalios of GSCC, Antonios Faraklas of Chartworld, George Gratsos of HCS, Capt. John Halas of PSF, Rea Metropoulou of WISTA Hellas, Andreas Tsavliris of ISU, Efthimios E. Mitropoulos formerly of IMO, Themistocles Vokos of Posidonia and Nigel Lowry of Lloyds List) during the ceremony of the Lloyds List Greek Shipping Awards.
The recognition adds further to an impressive track record especially in the home market of the Company. Accepting the award on behalf of the Company Mr Konstantinos Stabedakis, Managing Director, stated.
“At ERMA FIRST we have compiled an extremely qualified team of 10 Greek scientists and engineers delivering more than 12,000 hours of scientific research and testing, 3,000 samples for analysis and 8,000 pages of Technical Documentation for the certification process. We have been working non-stop over the last 5 years in order to make the prototype a reality in the market and we have the honor and the privilege to accept such a prestigious award at this milestone moment.”

After 30 years of manufacturing equipment for ships with more than 5,000 successful installations worldwide we have developed ERMA FIRST BWTS. It is a Greek system made by Greeks who share the same passion to create innovative marine technology with respect to the ship and seafarer. We assure you that it was hard, it will get harder as we gain momentum and competition grows in the global market but this is what is fuelling our drive to continue developing state of the art technology for the benefit of the ship.”
The Company has successfully completed a wide range of installations of its Ballast Water Treatment System in China, Korea, Japan, India, Turkey and Greece with the vision to install at least one piece of our equipment to every Greek vessel. Both Directors thanked the Greek Community who has been extremely supportive of the initiative with a special thanks to KOSTANTAKOPOULOS family for the support of COSTAMARE who provided Cosco Guangzhou with the initial company BWTS installation back in 2010.
