The first electric cruise ship in Yangtze river will start operations during 2018, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) informed. This ship will be an attempt by China to replace oil fueled vessels with electric ones. CSIC will also set up charging points along the river.
The vessel will have two decks, it will be 52.5 meters long, and will be able to carry 300 passengers. It will be powered by lithium batteries, which can provide power to 50 family cars.

The ship will not pollute the river, while it will also reduce the underwater noise for the animals with its new propelling system, local media reported.
A single charge will takes six hours, and will provides a travelling distance of 120 km.
The vessel will operate on the Wuhan section of the river in Central China’s Hubei province.
