The supply vessel will be in operation in early 2013
Swedish CRYO AB delivers another world first as they are designing and building the tank and bunkering system for the world’s first Marine Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) supply vessel for Ship to Ship bunkering. The supply vessel is commissioned by AGA Gas AB and will operate in Stockholm Harbour in Sweden.
The supply vessel will be in operation in early 2013 and the ferry operator Viking Line will be the main customer for the vessel. The bunkering system has been designed to allow Viking Line to operate in the Baltic Sea (an Emission Control Area) that in 2015 will have a new strict sulphur fuel directive.
The new bunkering concept has a minimum of movable parts and is pump free, which makes the installation low maintenance, and still allows ferry bunkering in about one hour. The bunkering is performed at the same time as passenger boarding, which optimizes the time in port.
The volume of the tank unit used in the new design is 180m3. Furthermore the tank is horizontal, vacuum insulated and placed centrally on the deck of the supply vessel.
