COSCO Shipping Specialized Carriers announced that they will order another 62,000 pulp carrier from China’s Cosco Dalian Shipyard. This decision is the exercise of a contract option, which was signed earlier this year.
On August, COSCO Shipping signed a contract, under which the company ordered 2 large tonnage multi-purpose pulp and paper vessels from Dalian, with the option to order one more.
The contract was signed after COSCO agreed a contract of affreightment (COA) swith Brazil’s pulp exporter ‘Suzano Papel e Celulose’.
The first of the three vessels is expected to be delivered in the beginning of 2019, with the others being delivered later the same year.
The ships will be 201.8 meters long, 32.26 meters wide, while they will be able to achieve a speed of 13.5 knots, handling about 62,000 tons of deadweight.
