China National Offshore Oil Corp (CNOOC) will build China’s first floating LNG receiving and storage terminal off the northern city of Tianjin.
The RMB5.7bn ($893.6m) project will enable 2.2m tonnes of LNG to be received each year, according to a CNOOC official.
The facility is scheduled to start operation in 2014.
CNOOC unveiled that it is planning to add several more floating facilities along China’s coastline.
