On December 13, the Xinhua News informed that the China Ningo Containerized Freight Index (NCFI) marked a significant increase in the Europe & Mediterranean routes for this week, as according to the Ningbo Shipping Exchange, the spring festival cargo boosted the needs and demands for shipment.
The NCFI showed a growth for the China’s globally container shipping market. Specifically on Friday, the container freight stood at 853.2 points, marking a 10.2% increase comparing to the previous week.
Moreover, the freight rates in the route from Ningbo-Zhoushan port to Europe noted a 24% growth, quoting 784.1 points. At the same time, the routes to the east and west coast of the Mediterranean, presented 751.0 points and 870.0 points accordingly, meaning up to 44.2% and 48.9% in comparison with the last week’s rates.
For the records, the NCFI is publishing every week from the Ningbo Shipping Exchange located in the Ningbo-Zhoushan port in east China’s Zhejiang Province, while it calculates and marks the container cargo rates from 21 routes departing from Ningbo-Zhoushan port.
