The first LNG tanker to transit the newly expanded Panama Canal last month, the Maran Gas Apollonia, has now become the first to arrive in China with a cargo of US LNG.
AIS tracking data show the vessel has arrived at a facility near Hong Kong carrying American liquefied natural gas from Cheniere’s Sabine Pass facility to China.
Shell-chartered Maran Gas Apollonia-measuring 289 meters in length and 45 meters in beam left Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass LNG facility in Louisiana four weeks ago and went through the Canal’s expensive new locks on July 26 and then arrived at the port of Yantian in Shenzhen near Hong Kong.
