A total of seven bids had been received to build a LNG terminal on the Croatian island of Krk in the northern Adriatic, LNG Croatia announced
From the seven received bids, 4 offers were from industrial investors and 3 offers from financial investors, the company said in a statement. All potential investors have strong background in gas industry and financial businesses, however the company will not unveil their names.
The terminal, which will have a nominal capacity of 6 billion cubic metres and help Croatia reduce its reliance on Russian gas imports, is expected to be complete by mid-2019.
The proposed terminal would be able to receive, store and re-gasify LNG, opening Croatia up to imports from LNG suppliers such as Qatar, Reuters said.
The LNG terminal project on the Island of Krk was declared last year by the government of Croatia a project of strategic importance for the country.
