ABS Nautical Systems (NS) is expanding its operations in Pune, India by more than 30% to keep pace with the substantial growth experienced in 2015. The move to a major IT park will better serve both the NS staff and customers and will allow NS to increase the pace of product development. As a part of this expansion, NS will be hiring staff in all positions including Development, Customer Service, QA and Consulting.
According to Anindya Talukdar, Managing Director of the Pune office,
“ABS Pune acts as an extended technology arm of ABS. Over the years we have built expertise and leadership in India. Our software engineers not only code and support earlier versions of software, but are deeply engaged in future proofing of web and mobile versions of NS Enterprise. Our plan is to recruit top of the line IT people to support our innovation, data analytics, data governance, development, quality analysis, customer support and global consulting opportunities. The move to a bigger facility enables us to expand our operation to support this growth.”
As India is also home to operational offices of many shipping companies, the Pune operation will also serve as a day to day support resource for local clients as well as a hub for global operations. Talukdar is also hoping to attract marine engineers to the IT side of the business through this expansion.
NS has seen a growing global demand for the NS Enterprise software, including consulting and other professional services. The Pune office expansion will allow NS to better serve its clients around the world. “Growing our operation in India was a strategic decision. Our aggressive product development roadmap reflects market and economic factors that are driving a demand for software that improves efficiency, easily enables compliance in an increasingly complex regulatory environment and is all accessible on desktop and mobile devices. In order to keep pace with these demands, we needed to grow our global footprint with expertise from all areas of our business. The Pune office is a critical part of that. ” Says Stephen Schwarz, VP and Chief Operating Officer of ABS Nautical Systems.
As a part of ABS, NS offers a platform to deliver on the innovative technologies that are developed within the ABS Technology Group. Howard Fireman, Chief Technology Officer and President of Nautical Systems says, “Our vision as a leading class society and technology leader is to make NS the leading provider of Maritime Fleet Management Software. Expanding operations in India will give us the opportunity to attract the expertise needed to realize this vision. We are developing new tools with features and functionality that outperform our competitors and the Indian operation is contributing to this success.”
The Pune staff is also committed to supporting the mission of ABS, developing products and services that promote the security of life and property and preserve the natural environment.
