222 passengers were stranded near Chile, after the cruise ship ‘Le Soléal’ was damaged at its bottom, while scratches were also reported to its propeller. However, according to Ponant, despite the damages the ship managed to head to Puerto Natales in its own power, while no injuries were reported.
As ‘Le Soléal’ was travelling in Kirke Canal, its bottom was damaged. What is more, the divers who assessed the situation also noticed scratches to the ship’s propeller.

As Ponant informed, the 222 passengers and the crew and the ship managed to go to Puerto Natales under its own power.
The ship is currently moored there, but Ponant changed the cruise program because of this incident. Namely, ‘Le Soléal’ will probably be taken out of service for a while, in order to evaluate the damages and undergo any repairs required.
In another recent cruise ship incident, a Carnival cruise ship listed heavily to its side while en route to the Caribbean, causing a minute of panic for the passengers.
The incident was reported a few hours after the ‘Carnival Sunshine’ left the Port Canaveral in Florida. Photos released through social media depicted the inside of the ship with plates, bottles, silverware, glassware and even tables crashing to the floor.
