Grimaldi Lines has presented this week at the Port of Barcelona the ferry Cruise Roma that has incorporated a series of technological solutions aimed at reducing its environmental impact, making it the first ship zero emissions in port of the Mediterranean.
The Cruise Roma, along with the Cruise Barcelona, underwent an expansion process that enabled the vessel to expand its length by 29 metres.
As Grimaldi Lines highlight, the solutions incorporated in this ferry aim to reduce its environmental impact, while also save energy.
Among the improvements is the mega lithium battery plant with a capacity of more than 5 MWh, a sufficient power to sustain the ship’s energy during its stay in port. It is a very important technological advance since it avoids the use of diesel auxiliary generators, thus achieving the objective of zero emissions during its stay in port.
In addition, four purifiers have been installed for the purification of exhaust gases in order to reduce particle emissions by 80%.

This initiative of the Italian shipping company is firmly aligned with the commitment to sustainable growth that the Port of Barcelona is promoting with its Plan for the Improvement of Air Quality.
