Ocean Network Express published an advisory release, according to which fire-stricken Yantian Express is still waiting to discharge the damaged containers, two weeks after arriving in Freeport, Bahamas. The vessel is expecting the port Authority to give the official approval to begin the discharge operations.
According to the statement, the approval is expected to be received in the next few days.
Also, the Port Authority is monitoring the preparation of the site.
ONE commented that they’re in close contact with the local authority and hope to receive permission to start the operation of discharging the cargo shortly.
Based on the information currently available, we expect the discharge to take approximately two months.

Mainly, the cargo that is thought to be unharmed by the fire, is placed in a dry condition and the company is still looking for its options.
Hapag-Lloyd informed that a total of 198 containers onboard the ‘Yantian Express’ was estimated to be a total loss for the company.
