Chinese shipbuilding group Yangzijiang has secured a contract to build up to 10 vessels worth a total of USD 1.15 billion for Hong Kong-based container shipping firm Tiger Group.
Under the contract, Yangzijiang will initially build two dual-fuel container ships with a capacity of 14,000 TEU.
There is option for eight more vessels at $115 million per hull, making a total contract value of $1.15 billion.
The two vessels are expected for delivery from mid-2022.
Additionally, the deal is among Yangzijiang’s largest orders in value, according to the group’s CEO Ren Letian.
