Crew Welfare Survey Report | 2021 4 safety4sea.com Collection Data Method The survey referred to all people working onboard and required less than ten minutes to be completed. Full anonymity was ensured throughout the survey while all demographics required were used for analysis & verification purposes only. Participants had to complete a questionnaire which was divided into two parts. The first part included de- mographics about ship type, rank, department, gender and nationality of the seafarer while the second part focused on key elements of crew welfare: a. Wellness b. Communication on Physical / Mental health / COVID-19 Analysis Method Upon completion of the survey period, all results were listed in a common database for analysis. Indexes for Analysis For each aspect, a specific Index was created which determined participants’ satisfaction level. Sub- sequently, a factor was calculated as the average of the five aforementioned indexes. This factor, called Crew Welfare Index (CWI) represents the status of indus- try’s welfare. Happiness Namely, each of the aforementioned element in- volved a number of specific predefined questions, the answers of which led to five (5) different indexes which determine the satisfaction level of each key element. Supplementary to the above, the survey also included open feedback questions asking about seafarers’ con- cerns on their wellbeing during the COVID-19 era. METHODS USED
