The Icon of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, recently played a crucial role in rescuing 14 individuals stranded on a small boat.
According to ABC news, the Royal Caribbean spokesperson stated that the ship encountered the drifting vessel in distress during its cruise from Miami to Honduras. The crew promptly initiated a rescue operation, successfully bringing the 14 people on board. The ship’s crew provided necessary medical attention.
The cruise ship encountered the small vessel “adrift and in need of assistance,” Miami-based Royal Caribbean said in a statement to The Associated Press on Thursday.
Passengers on the cruise captured video footage of the crew using a small vessel to ferry the rescued group to the safety of the cruise ship. Following the successful rescue, the cruise ship’s captain informed passengers that they had saved 14 people who had been stranded at sea for eight days.
