The first-ever smart domestic LNG fueled offshore support vessels (OSVs) Haiyang Shiyou 547 and Haiyang Shiyou 542 were finally completed in Qidong, Jiangsu on 28 May, according to China Shipbuilding Corporation.
The vessels are the first LNG-fueled OSVs in the world to carry four smart systems. These include a next-gen navigation system and an advanced assisted collision prevention system.

The ships will also provide firefighting and rescue services, cargo transportation for offshore oil and gas developments, and on-duty guards. The highlight of these vessels is the smart feature upgrade from the conventional LNG-powered OSV.
The design team at Wuchang integrated more than 280 monitoring points into the ship layout, which had been monitored by over 30 smart system sets.
For addressing the increased number of test items in the commissioning of smart ship systems and ensuring timely delivery, the Wuchang construction team combined fuel and gas tests with systems tests that took two days, reducing the test cycle by a minimum of five days.
Tests were required to be conducted in two voyages. The implementation of vessels to the delivery took five months to be executed.
