The Energy Observer, a former race boat powered with autonomous navigation with hydrogen, was launched pressing need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, on April 14, in Saint Malo, France.
Hydrogen (H), the most abundant chemical element in the universe, demonstrates a little more every day its immense potential as an energy vector capable of recovering renewable energies. For the architects, engineers, and navigators involved the challenge is to aim for self-reliance through energy coupling and the carbon-free production of hydrogen from sea water.
“Energy observer is a two-way conversion process: to recycle a lightweight and reliable racing catamaran, an around the world record holder, to allow an investment in research and development, rather than in composite” Victorien Erussard, Offshore racer and Energy Observer Captain said.
Energy Observer is an odyssey around the world on the search for innovative solutions for the environment. 6 years, 50 countries, and 101 stopovers, to go and meet people who are designing tomorrow’s future, and to prove that a cleaner world is possible.
More than a vessel, Energy Observer is a media platform providing positive and inspiring content in favor of innovative solutions. The ship will set sail in May 2017 from Paris.
