A woman fell overboard the P&O cruise ship “Pacific Dawn”, on April 12, while the ship was sailing 300 kilometres west off New Caledonia. A search and rescue mission was immediately launched, but because of the bad weather, it has now been called off.
The woman fell overboard the ship, while it was in the Coral Sea, heading to Brisbane on the return. P&O said about the accident that a crew member notified the bridge as soon as the accident happened and a response was activated immediately.
As a result, the ship Dawn turned around to follow the course it had when the accident happened, in hope that it will eventually manage to find the woman. AMSA and New Caledonian authorities call nearby vessels to help in the search.

The search and rescue was extended for about 1000 kilometres northeast of Brisbane and 300 kilometres west of New Caledonia. However, with rough conditions making the search efforts difficult, authorities decided to call off the search for the woman
As the captain informed the passengers, the woman was impossible to found, and the ship would return to Brisbane.
