World Maritime University plans to further boost its partnership and collaboration with Canada. In light of the situation, from 24-26 February, a delegation from WMU visited several agencies in Canada to discuss about the ongoing fellowship program funded by Canada which is focused on Gender Empowerment.
In fact, the delegation met with The Honourable Bernadette Jordan, Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard.
During the meeting, members discussed about future cooperation and research opportunities under the UN Decade of Ocean Science initiative.
Among others, WMU visited Transport Canada (TC), the Canadian Maritime Chamber of Commerce, Global Affairs Canada and the Canadian Bureau of International Education.
All the meetings were held with the common aim to support education at WMU and strengthen their relationships.
For the records, members of the delegation were Dr. Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, President, Senior Advisor Neil Bellefontaine, Professor Meinhard Doelle, Canadian Chair, and Adjunct Professor Larry Hildebrand.
Overall, Dr Cleopatra Doumbia-Henry, President of the World Maritime University (WMU) recently spoke during the European Shipping Week (ESW) with a keynote address on Gender diversity: Better for People, Better for the Profession, Better for the Industry.
