We4Sea, a maritime technology company announced it has joined the Green Award Foundation, an NGO that certifies operators who meet the standards for a ship’s safety quality and environmental performance, as an Incentive Provider.
With this cooperation, We4Sea aims to make sustainable ship operation economically more attractive, according to its statement.
We4Sea operates a cloud platform whose goal is to optimize the performance and reduce fuel consumption and emissions of seagoing ships.
We4Sea collects operational data of ships and they send it to shore, where it is enriched with other data sources. Then using the Digital Twin technology, We4Sea transforms this data into information on how to optimize the use and configuration of a ship.
Data analysis can potentially reduce fuel costs up to 20%, the company mentioned.
Jan Fransen, Executive Director of the Green Award Foundation, said: ‘We are happy to welcome We4Sea to the Green Award scheme and see many synergies. Innovative technologies become a greater reality for the maritime industry. Data analyses enable reduced fuel consumption, a choice of the most suitable fuel-efficient model and predictive maintenance, what results in great benefits for the environment and, thus, the people. “
