In light of these challeging times and difficulties the seafarers are facing, the American P&I Club and Eagle Ocean Marine honor the seafarers through the #WeatheringTheStorm campaign.
As shown in the video above, the hashtag shows the reality of life at sea. Seafarers sent pictures to the Club from their lives onboard, showing their routine during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new realities made necessary by the COVID-19 pandemic – among them daily Personal Protective Equipment and new safety routines – do not slow these essential front-line workers,
… the Club notes.
They adjust, and carry on, knowing that “Life’s roughest storms prove the strength of our anchors”.
The shipping industry has launched a number of campaigns to express its appreciation to the seafarers. For example, the Maritime Transport Workers’ Trade Union of Ukraine (MTWTU) launched the campaign #ISupplyTheWorld, supported by the International Transport Worker’s Federation (ITF) and IMEC, recognizing the important contribution of the global maritime transport workers to the well functioning of the worldwide maritime shipping, through these challenging times.
Meanwhile, the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) published a video highlighting how important seafarers are to keeping supply chains open during the COVID-19 pandemic, reminding of the #HeroesAtSeaShoutOut campaign.
