The US Office of Naval Research Global (ONRG) Tactically Reconfigurable Artificial Combat Enhanced Reality (TRACER) package includes a virtual-reality headset, a backpack, a simulated weapon designed to deliver realistic recoil, and a software package that creates multiple and adaptable simulation scenarios for security personnel to experience.
This Augmented Reality Technology aims to train sailors from divergent career fields in US Navy security force fundamentals, code of conduct, anti-terrorism and warfare training.

According to Dr. Patrick Mead, project lead from the Human Systems Research and Development branch at NSWC Dahlgren, this training system is built mostly from commercial-off-the-shelf products, which means that the US Navy is using widely available gaming gear.
He also added that these technologies combine together in order to provide an accurate weapon and movement tracking capabilities, along with a high immersive simulation visual, auditory and haptic (touch) feedback.
