On July 11, two cargo ships collided in the Welland Canal, a waterway that connects Lake Erie with Lake Ontario. No injuries or pollution have been reported.
The two ships hit each other starboard of the centerline. An alarm is heard before and after the collision.
One of the ships was laden with wind tower components and bound for Duluth, while the other was carrying a load of coal to Quebec.
Currently, the seaway authority is investigating the circumstances of the accident long with Transport Canada.
Both vessels have returned safely to port, while no injuries or pollution have been reported. The traffic also continues normally.
