The Port of Rotterdam launched an application that enables shippers and freight forwarders to locate their containers at any given time and is a more user-friendly way of collecting information from all kinds of sources.
Given that shippers and freight forwarders manually gather data needed from a variety of websites about where their containers are loaded, the ‘Boxinsider’ application enables the collection in a lesser time and makes it easier. Also, manually collected information may result to an error and have costly consequences.
Therefore, the application tracks containers, sets the expected and actual arrival and departure of vessels, whereas it tracks unloading and departures at container terminals, as well. Users are alerted for any potential delay or disruption.
Poeldijk-based ABC Logistics is amongst the customers that have used the application, commenting that ‘It really is a very user-friendly application.’
CEO Allard Castelein stated
Solutions like Boxinsider are good examples of this transition and so they are a perfect match with our ambition to be the world’s Smartest Port.
