Regulators have launched an investigation after a pipeline explosion that took place on Lake Lery, Louisiana last week.
More specifically, on September 8, a 20-inch underwater natural gas pipeline was breached on Lake Lery. The gas ignited on the surface, and a few hours later, the line was isolated and valves on either side of the rupture were shut off.
No injuries were reported, but a a small sheen of pollution was identified, which is is expected to dissipate and weather away without further intervention.
What is more no significant impacts were reported.
Now, an investigation into the cause of the pipeline burst is under way, and initial media reports suggested that a barge strike ruptured the pipeline.
However, a local official disputed that account in an interview with local media.
