The CEO of Delek Drilling, Yossi Abu, published a video of the jacket’s launch in his LinkedIn profile.
The Leviathan jacket is in place. Great milestone achieved thanks to the wide group of great people aiming to flow natural gas by the end of this year.
According to sources, the Leviathan jacket arrived in its location, approximately 10 kilometres offshore, after a month trip from Texas to Israel.
The platform jacket voyaged the Atlantic Ocean in 84 days, travelling a distance of 11,500 kilometres.
Moreover, the jacket is 98 metres height and weighs 15.500 tons.
The Minister of National Infrastructure, Energy, and Water Resources, Yuval Steinitz, addressed that the Leviathan platform highlights the beginning of the last stage in development of the reservoir, the largest natural resource ever discovered in Israel.
The Leviathan was discovered in 2010, and holds approximately 22 trillion cubic feet of gross recoverable resources, as one of the largest natural gas discoveries globally.
Concluding, it is being developed using a subsea system that is to connect production wells to a fixed platform located offshore with tie-in onshore in the northern part of Israel
Noble Energy is the operator of the Leviathan field with a 39.66% interest, the two partners in the field are Delek Drilling and Ratio Oil with 45.34% and 15%, respectively.
