An MSC cruise ship crashed into a pier and a tourist river boat on a busy canal in Venice, on June 2. According to local media, four people were injured due to the collision, with MSC explaining that the ship experienced mechanical problems.
Four people sustained minor injuries, as a cruise vessel collided with a pier and a tourist river boat on a major route leading to the Italian city’s famous St Mark’s Square.
As numerous videos of the accident depict, the cruise ship crashed into the River Countess boat, as well as the dock, with people running in panic.
Providing a comment on the incident, MSC said that the vessel was to dock at a passenger terminal in Venice, but it encountered mechanical issues.
Two towboats managed to stop the cruise ship from hitting the smaller boat, but were not able to prevent the crash.
