A cargo vessel collided with a ferry transiting the Shitalakkhya River in Bangladesh, resulting in the death of 6 people, while up to 20 individuals are still missing.
River police seized the Rupshi-9 general cargo ship yesterday. However, the master of the vessel had fled when the authorities arrived.
The ferry was carrying more than 50 passengers when it collided. Rescue operations in the area have started immediately following the incident.

…a fire service official was quoted as saying by the private Independent TV channel. Another official mentioned that more passengers were feared to be drowned and some of them could also be trapped inside the ferry.
Many videos that went viral depict the ship’s bow ramming the Afsar Uddin ferry for 500 meters before the small passenger vessel sank.
