The containership Tina I has grounded off Batam, Indonesia, on November 22, colliding with the Iranian containership Shahra. The latter has been grounded at the same ground for six months.
Tina I had sailed from Pasir Panjang terminal in Singapore, heading to Jakarta, Indonesia and then towards the eastbound lane of the Traffic Separation Scheme in the Singapore Strait.
Sources report that the Master could have become disorientated at night in the busy shipping lane.
The Iranian-flagged containership Shahraz has suffered a broken-back and was grounded after a collision with the Indonesian-flagged bulker Samadra Sakti, on May 11.
The Iranian ship remains grounded in Indonesia waters since then.
