Kongsberg Gruppen has published a video with a first-hand look at life aboard the IWS Skywalker, to provide perspective on how the crew members live and work on this vessel.
As explained in the video, the Skywalker features a double-ended propulsion system with two propellers at both the bow and stern, enhancing speed and efficiency. This allows the vessel to service more turbines in less time. Additionally, the ship is equipped with Tier 3 engines, a 2.2-megawatt power pack, and full automation systems for optimal performance. The Dynamic Positioning (DP) system, critical for maintaining the vessel’s position near turbines, ensures safe crew transfers and prevents potential damage.
Furthermore, according to the video, the ship can accommodate up to 120 people, with living spaces designed for maximum comfort.
My name is Chris, and I’m the chef on Skywalker. Today, I’m making pizza. This vessel is phenomenal. It features a new Walk-to-Work system by MacGregor, which is specifically designed for living on the vessel
