A bulk carrier with a capacity of 65,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT), the largest ever constructed by a Vietnamese company, has successfully completed its sea trials and is now ready to begin operations from Hai Phong, Vietnam.
The carrier, measures nearly 200 meters in length, 32.26 meters in width, and has a gross tonnage (GT) of 35,823. Designed through a joint venture between Vietnam Shipbuilding Engineering JSC (VISEC) and Bluetech Finland Ltd, the vessel boasts many features that are on par with similar ships worldwide.
Moreover, the carrier is classified by ClassNK, ensuring that it can operate in all international waters and meet the requirements of ports around the world.
The carrier was built by Nam Trieu Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of the Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (SBIC), and was delivered to Dong Bac Shipbuilding Industry JSC on 26 December.
The two companies also signed a contract to construct two more carriers of the same 65,000 DWT capacity. The development of the 65,000 DWT carrier series aligns with the Party and State’s strategy to advance Vietnam’s maritime economy.
