The Mediterranean Shipping Company’s (MSC) 11,000-TEU ‘MSC Avni’, arrived at the port of Philadelphia on 14 January, becoming the largest cargo vessel to ever call the Port.
The 2017-built boxship, managed by SinOceanic Shipping, arrived from the Panamanian Port of Cristobal. The ship has a length of 314 meters and a width of 48 meters.
The largest ship ever to sail up the Delaware River was one of the major milestones expected for the port within 2018. In March, the port awaits for the arrival of two super post-Panamax gantry cranes, while the first ship taking used-car exports will leave Philadelphia for Africa in this month.
