The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) is responding to an incident involving the Pan Viva, a 738-foot cargo ship that is beset by weather, located 2.3 miles northeast of Unalaska, Alaska.
As informed by the USCG, despite intense weather with 46 to 58-knot winds and 26 to 29-foot seas, the vessel remains anchored and stable, not experiencing mechanical failures or environmental damage. According to sources, the vessel had twenty-one crew members onboard.
A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter evacuated four crew members to Dutch Harbor, while the Coast Guard Cutter Stratton is on standby in Udegak Pass.
