The US Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Center (MSC) issued an updated Type Approval certificate to Sunrui Environmental Engineering, for their filtration/side-stream electrolysis BalClor Ballast Water Management System.
The updated certificate was issued to clarify the hazardous location installation requirements onboard foreign flag vessels.
A ballast water management system installed in a hazardous location on a U.S. flag vessel must comply with the relevant hazardous location requirements of 46 CFR 111.105. Installations on foreign flag vessels must meet the requirements for hazardous locations as set forth by the vessel’s flag administration.
The company earned the certification earlier this month. The company said that its system succeeded in increasing the Annual Production Capacity from 500 to 1000 Units, in order to meet the demand for the installation to existing vessels.
