As the USCG announced, they rescued three people on Saturday, April 20, after their 25-foot boat capsized in Clearwater Pass. After the call and reports of a capsized vessel, the USCG station Sand Key 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew was launched and saved the three people. No injuries were reported.
The rescued ones were Zephyr Humphries, James Hutton and Leanne Hutton.
Specifically, at 0330 pm, Coast Guard St. Petersburg watchstanders got a call from a good Samaritan, stating that there was a capsized vessel in the vicinity of Clearwater Pass with an unknown amount of people in the water.
When it arrived at the area of the incident, the USCG members saw three people in the water wearing life jackets.
The crew recovered all three and transmitted them to the Station Stand Key.
Petty Officer 3rd Class Thomas Mann, the coxswain of the response boat commented
Once they knew the boat was going to sink, the mariners gathered their possessions and tightened their lifejackets. As they entered the water, they stayed together and our boatcrew was able to locate them immediately and pull them to safety.
Except USCG, the call in distress also responded Florida Fish and Wildlife and Clearwater Fire and Rescue.
