According to International news, US and UK have imposed sanctions on Iran in response to its drone attack on Israel.
Washington targeted 16 individuals and two entities involved in drone engine production, while the UK Foreign Office imposed travel bans and asset freezes on seven individuals and six entities linked to drone and missile programs.
These actions come after Israel called for international support following Iran’s direct assault involving over 300 missiles and drones from Iran, Iraq, Syria, and Yemen, most of which were intercepted.
President Joe Biden stated that the G7 leaders are committed to collectively increasing economic pressure on Iran, targeting its drone program, steel producers, and vehicle companies associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Ministry of Defence. The US has imposed over 600 sanctions on Iranian-related entities during Biden’s presidency.
The UK’s latest sanctions are part of its broader approach, with Foreign Secretary Lord Cameron describing the joint US-UK action as condemning Iran’s attack on a sovereign state. The European Union also announced additional sanctions on Iranian drone and missile producers.
