The ‘2015 (No.2) Regulation’ implements sanctions against Liberia imposed by the United Nations Security Council for the supply, sale, transfer or carriage of arms or related materiel to certain persons and their related activities.
The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) gazetted the United Nations Sanctions (Liberia) (No.2) Regulation 2015 (L.N. 239 of 2015) (the ‘2015 (No.2) Regulation’) and the United Nations Sanctions (Liberia) Regulation 2015 (Repeal) Regulation (L.N. 240 of 2015) (the ‘2015 Repeal Regulation’) on 11 December 2015.
The ‘2015 (No.2) Regulation’ gives effect to certain decisions in Resolution 2237 (2015) as adopted by the United Nations Security Council on 2 September 2015 by providing for the :
(a) prohibition against the supply, sale, transfer or carriage of arms or related materiel to certain persons; and
(b) prohibition against the provision to certain persons of assistance, advice or training related to military activities in certain circumstances
The ‘2015 (No.2) Regulation’ expires at midnight on 1 June 2016.
