During Sea Asia, 12-23 April 2015 in Singapore
The United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO) is holding a series of free ECDIS Seminars at the Sea Asia 2015 Conference and Exhibition, taking place in Singapore from 21 – 23 April.
To achieve SOLAS carriage requirements for the use of ECDIS as a primary means of navigation, a ship’s safety management system must include procedures for the operational use of ECDIS. The UKHO’s ECDIS Implementation, Policy and Procedures Seminars will be led by Captain Paul Haywood, who is an internationally renowned expert on ECDIS and integrated bridge operations. They are designed to prepare all parties within the shipping industry with the essential information that they require to ensure the safe and effective implementation of ECDIS on board.
Speaking ahead of next week’s seminars, Captain Paul Hailwood commented:
“It is vital that all parties involved in the shipping industry have a clear understanding of how ECDIS operating procedures should be incorporated into onboard safety management systems, safety procedures and risk assessments. ECDIS can play a pivotal role in supporting safe, compliant and efficient shipping and we look forward to meeting as many people as possible at our Sea Asia Seminars and answering all of their ECDIS questions.“
