The UK P&I Club informs about the latest draft restrictions in Panama Canal.
The amount of rainfall that the Canal watershed has received during the past week has made it possible to suspend the second draft restriction that was announced previously and has been in effect since April 29 2016.
Therefore, the maximum authorized transit draft for vessels transiting the Panamax locks will be increased to 11.89m (39.0 feet) Tropical Fresh Water (TFW) effective immediately and until further notice. The following advisory issued by the Panama Canal Authority refers to the updated draft restriction for the new Neopanamax locks, which will be effective 27th June 2016.From this date, the maximum authorized transit draft will be set at 13.11m (43.0 feet) Tropical Fresh Water (TFW).
