The UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) announced that during November there were five new detention of foreign flagged vessels in a UK port, while seven foreign flagged ships remained under detention during November 2020 after failing port state control (PSC) inspection.
Notes on the list of detentions
- Full details of the ship. The accompanying detention list shows ship’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) number which is unchanging throughout the ship’s life and uniquely identifies it. It also shows the ship’s name and flag state at the time of its inspection.
- Company. The company shown in the vessel’s safety management certificate (SMC) or if there is no SMC, then the party otherwise believed to be responsible for the safety of the ship at the time of inspection.
- Classification society. The list shows the classification society responsible for classing the ship only.
- Recognised organisation. Responsible for conducting the statutory surveys: and issuing statutory certificates on behalf of the flag state.
- white (WL), grey (GL) and black lists (BL) are issued by the Paris MoU on 01 July each year and shows the performance of flag State.

#1 Aqua Mist: The Norway-flagged vessel was detained on November 6 2020 at Lerwick, found with three deficiencies, with one ground for detention. However, the vessel was released on 6th November 2020.
#2 Teal Bulker: The Panama-flagged vessel was detained on November 8 2020 at Port Talbot after found with twenty-five deficiencies with two grounds for detention. This vessel was released on November 12 2020
#3 Sirius 1: The Nigeria-flagged vessel was detained on November 7 at Southampton found with eleven deficiencies with two grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained on 30th November 2020.
#4 Sirius 2: The Nigeria-flagged vessel was detained on November 12 at Southampton after being found with twenty deficiencies with five grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained on 30th November 2020.
#5 Pacific Dawn: The Panama-flagged vessel was detained on November 27 2020 at Hull, found with twenty-two deficiencies with one ground for detention. This vessel was still detained on 30th November 2020.

#1 The Bahamas-flagged ‘Marco Polo’ was detained on 9th June 2020 at Avonmouth, after being found with six deficiencies with one ground for detention. This vessel was released on 18th November 2020.
#2 The Bahamas-flagged ‘Vasco Da Gama‘ was detained on 19th June 2020 at Tilbury, along with five deficiencies with three grounds for detention. This vessel was released on 19th November 2020.
#3 The Bahamas-flagged ‘Astor” was detained on 19th June 2020 at Tilbury, after being found with two deficiencies with two grounds for detention. This vessel was released on 6th November 2020.
#4 The Bahamas-flagged ‘Columbus‘ was detained on 19th June 2020 at Tilbury, with five deficiencies with four grounds for detention. This vessel was released on 18th November 2020.
#5 The Latvia-flagged ‘Liva Greta’ was detained on 11th January 2020 at Birkenhead, with nine deficiencies with two grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained on 30th November 2020.
#6 The Iceland-flagged ‘Poseidon‘ was detained on 19th July 2018 at Hull, with ten deficiencies with two grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained on 30th November 2020.
#7 The Russian-flagged ‘Tecoil Polaris’ was detained on 6th June 2018 at Immingham, after found with 27 deficiencies with eight grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained on 30th November 2020.
#8 The unregistered ‘Cien Porciento’ was detained on 4 March 2010 with 30 deficiencies, including seven grounds for detention. This vessel was still detained on 30th November 2020.
