The United Kingdom detained seven foreign-flagged ships during July 2016 after they failed port state control inspection. They included four vessels previously detained and three new detentions.
The German-flagged Paulin B was found to have 17 deficiencies, with seven grounds for detention. These included overloading, missing equipment and documents, and international safety management (ISM) not as required.
The St Kitts & Nevis-flagged RSS Cormorant was found to have 17 deficiencies, with three grounds for detention. These were missing documents for conditions of employment, dangerous goods compliance and charts.
Four of the five deficiencies found on the India-flagged Malaviya Twenty were grounds for detention. These were for lack of wages paid to the crew, missing wage records, an invalid seafarers’ agreement and missing minimum safe manning.
