M/V Levantes, a bulk carrier that was sailing for Egypt from Russia, and M/V Clipper Como, another vessel en route from Morocco to Samsun, collided with each other off the Bozcaada coast.
After the incident, the ship captains reported the situation to the Dardanelles Ship Traffic Services Directorate (VTS). While there has been no death in the accident, the damage to these ships is yet to be determined.
As informed, M/V Clipper Como has been heavily damaged. For the records, the two tugboats that belong to the General Directorate of Coastal Safety had been immediately sent for safety purposes.
After the collision, M/V Levantes moved to Limnos, a nearby island in Greece. It was reportedly moving at a slow speed. However, there has been no more information regarding its damages.
The 225-meter-long ship, M/V Levantes, was loaded with wheat while M/V Clipper Como ship had been carrying phosphate from Jorf Lasfar Port, Morocco.
Concluding, while there was no loss of life in the accident, relevant teams are to investigate if there has been any kind of sea pollution in this region. Damage assessment is soon to be conducted on both vessels.
