Two Indian crew members died, probably from toxic poisoning, onboard a ship at the anchorage of Chattogram port on June 18.
The seafarers had entered the tank of the ship to check its thickness they were exposed to toxic poisoning. Coastguard and local shipping agent rescued them and took them to a private hospital, where they were declared dead.

The ship “Nord Magic” arrived to Chattogram port on June 15 carrying soybean oil from Chennai port. It unloaded 4,240 tonnes of soybean oil in Chattogram and was scheduled to go to Haldia port in India to unload the remaining 18,500 tonnes of soybean oil.
Commenting on the incident, Arif Mahmud, manager (operation) of Mohammadi Trading Limited, said that:
We took the bodies to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for death certificates. The bodies would be sent to their country following due procedure
