A cruise ship that came into Canada Place in Vancouver Harbour on May 4th collided with another cruise ship. As Holland America stated, which owns both ships, they rubbed against each other while docking stern to stern.
Despite the collision, no one was injured and passengers left the ship as planned.
When the collision happened, the captain ordered the passengers to go at the stern of the ship, while later he announced what had happened. He said that the ship had hit the rear of the Nieuw Amsterdam.
According to Holland America, says six stateroom verandas on the Nieuw Amsterdam sustained damages, but repairs have already started.
All necessary repairs are well above the water line and the seaworthiness of both vessels has not been affected.
One of the ships, Oosterdam, was to go to Seattle, while the Nieuw Amsterdam would depart for a seven-day Alaska cruise. Neither schedules were expected to be delayed.
