On March 27 Toyota Tsusho Petroleum (TTP) filed a complaint against Nustar Energy Services (NES) at a US Court. The file regarded alleged off-spec bunkers, and TTP seeks $421,784.94 from NES through two claims.
Namely, on April 19, 2018, NES supplied 840 metric tonnes (mt) of IFO 380 to the Singapore-flagged chemical tanker ‘M/V Beatrice’ at the Port of Houston.

TTP and NES sent bunker samples to different fuel testing laboratories, which found that they were exceeding the ISO 8217:2010(E) specifications regarding calcium, phosphorus and zinc content, sources report.
For this reason, TTP seeks an overall of $421,784.94 from NES through two claims. Specifically, the company is claiming around $257,300 as payment used for replacing the off-spec IFO 380 NuStar sold to TTP, along with the barging, survey, and other fees.
In addition, TTP also seeks reimbursement for $164,484.94 in damages claimed by the owners/operators of the M/V Beatrice. The reimbursement regards, but is not limited to, additional port charges demurrage, and deviation, which has now been satisfied by TTP.
