On 28 April, the container vessel Maersk Sana experienced machinery-related issues in its main engine room while en route from Newark to Singapore.
The incident resulted in injuries to three crew members. According to Maersk, one was treated with first aid onboard, while the other two were evacuated on 30 April via the vessel Maersk Nomazwe for medical treatment in Bermuda.
Of the two evacuated crew members, one has since been discharged while the other was transferred to a hospital in the United States for further care.
Moreover, a towage vessel is expected to reach Maersk Sana within a week. Maersk has launched an investigation into the cause of the machinery failure and is working to minimize any resulting supply chain disruptions.
