In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hapag Lloyd announced that its container vessel “MV Montpellier” will remain under quarantine, as a third crew member was tested coronavirus positive.
In fact, several days ago, two crew members onboard the container ship were tested positive following their arrival in Durban on Sunday, May 17.
Therefore, local authorities quarantined the vessel for 14 days, ceasing all of its cargo operations.
Although, MV Montpellier’s quarantine will be further extended as a third seafarer was found coronavirus infected.
Unfortunately a further member of the crew has been tested positive for COVID-19. As a result of this, the vessel will have to remain at anchorage and will not be able to commence cargo operations at Durban in accordance with local health and safety regulations.
…as the company informed.
Following the above, Hapag Lloyd will keep monitoring the situation by collaborating with the local authorities to discuss contingency plans.
