Geoscience data provider, TGS, was granted commercial authorization from the Mexican regulator, Comisión Nacional de Hidrocarburos (CNH), to process its library of more than 30,000 wells in Mexico, in order to process and deliver well data products.
At first, TGS will focus on onshore and offshore exploration and appraisal wells, in addition to key development wells for bid rounds.
The packages aim to provide coverage of all offshore and onshore basins including exploration and appraisal wells in Perdido Fold Belt and Salina basin with focus on high interest areas, like Sureste and Veracruz, where recent discoveries caught the attention of the oil and gas industry. The packages also include Tampico-Misantla, with dense coverage across Chicontepec, and deep data for Agua Nueva and Pimienta unconventionals extending through the Burgos Sabinas Basins.
The processing work has already started, with the first delivery planned for this month.
“Our Mexican library will help E&P companies to evaluate petroleum potential from deep water to conventional and unconventional plays onshore, optimizing efforts in pursuing new lease rounds and investment opportunities in this region,” noted Kristian Johansen, CEO for TGS.
