An oil tanker began to take on water after colliding with a breakwater at the Port of Kaohsiung and damaging its hull.
The Danish-flagged oil products tanker TORM EMILIE was entering the port on February 1, when it collided with the south dike breakwater, causing a hull breach.
The outer shell of the hull was damaged, causing water to enter the hull. However, after an inspection it was determined that there is no chance of an oil leak.
The ship was listing 14 degrees, and now is listing at 9 degrees, according to information.
The ship was berthed at the Intercontinental Phase II Wharf and oil booms were deployed as a precaution. CNPC has agreed to allow the tanker to berth at Pier 104 to be unloaded.
The operation is expected to take about two and a half days, after which the ship will undergo maintenance and repair.
