Tanker leaks jet fuel after North Sea collision
A Cypriot container vessel, the Jork Ranger, and a Greek tanker, the Mindoro, have collided some 30 kilometres off the Dutch port Scheveningen, Dutch media reports. No person was injured but the tanker sustained a hole of five times six metres. Some of its cargo of kerosene, jet fuel, was spilled and forms a three-kilometre long slick. The fuel is expected to vaporise before it reaches any coast line. The leak has been stopped since the fuel has been pumped to an intact tank. The hole reaches under the vessels waterline. Coast guard vessels and tugs are on their way to the Mindoro and the Jork Ranger is under way to Rotterdam.
